Product Description

A fantastic antique Colt Model 1849 Percussion Pocket Revolver, manufactured Circa 1869. This is a true Gunfighter or Sharpshooter's pistol: The top of the barrel has been modified, a sight finely engraved down the barrel, hammer notched out to align with it. This gun was definitely important to its original owner. It features a six shot, single action, octagon barrel, one piece walnut grips, with brass guards. In excellent condition for its age, and with its original wood grips. The cylinder is worn but traces of the engraved stagecoach robbing scene can still be seen, along with “COLTS PATENT NO 1742", and "31 CAL" stamped next to the trigger. Very light wear overall with slight surface marks and nicks. It cycles properly, with a tight hammer snap, however this is an antique and not warranted safe to shoot and it should not be attempted without the aid of an expert. An excellent addition to any collection! Colt Serial No. 311742. 4-inch octagonal barrel, .31 Caliber. Entire pistol length 9 inches. Comes with custom metal display stand. Ex Alameda, CA Firearms collection. ** The Colt model 1849 is known as the Gun that Won the West as it was the preferred sidearm of cowboys, outlaws and lawmen alike during the Gold Rush and Westward Expansion.
