Mounted in a custom .925 silver pendant and 18-inch Italian silver chain. Bezel width 3/4 inch. Coin ex Sean Rich, Tortuga Trading Company, notable shipwreck expert and excavator of the 1715 Fleet wrecks. *** The Spanish 1715 Treasure Fleet disaster was probably the greatest to befall any of the Spanish treasure fleets in terms of casualties and money. The flotilla was actually a combination of two Spanish treasure fleets returning from the New World to Spain. On July 31, 1715, even days after departing Havana, Cuba, the overloaded Spanish galleons foundered in a hurricane off the east coast of Florida, and all eleven ships of the fleet were lost. They were not re-discovered until the 1950’s.
