Product Description
An excellent Chancay comb from Peru, ca. 1100 - 1450 AD. This rare weaving tool is 9 cm (3.5”) long, and 2.375” wide. Beautifully made from split reed, most likely Carrizo, with points on both sides. It is bound with the brown and tan braided thread typical of Chancay textile manufacture, with exquisite style. From the estate of Leroy Irons, Gallatin, TN, collected in the 1970's.
