Parthia, ancient Persia. King Mithradates V, 140 AD. A silver drachm, Ekbatana mint. The front depicts the long-bearded bust of the king facing left wearing a diadem with three ribbons, surrounded by a circular border of pellets. The back depicts the archer Arsaces wearing a bashlyk and cloak, seated facing right on a throne, holding a bow in his right hand; below the bow is a monogram, with a Greek inscription around. 20mm, 3.89 g. Ref: Sellwood 82.1; Sunrise 450; Shore 425 for type. VF+, with excellent detail, light cabinet tone.
