Additionally, Black Ivory Coffee provides Mahouts (elephant caregivers) with a steady income far exceeding the wages of traditional logging, tourism, or ceremonial work.

Our elephants are treated with the utmost care. They are cared for by full-time caregivers and receive daily baths, playtime, and plenty of delicious coffee cherries. Elephants are large herbivores, so their slower fermentation process allows more time for the sweet cherry skins and pulp to mix with the coffee beans. This results in a smooth, chocolatey, and sweeter taste without the usual bitter burnt aftertaste.
