1928 Redeemable In Gold $ 100 Federal Reserve # 5 Richmond Cu # 733 Low Serial

Being offered today is a VERY RARE excellent example of a 1928 $100.00 Federal Reserve Richmond REDEEMABLE IN GOLD” note that is in Choice Uncirculated (CU) condition.

THE NOTE ALSO HAS THE REDDEMABLE IN GOLD STATEMENT ON THE UPPER LEFT SIDE OF THE NOTE:

The upper left of the note states:

“REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE US TREASURY OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”. So, at the time you could cash the note in for gold. Pretty cool.

This note has another great feature. It is a low serial numbered note with only
6 digits. Lower serial numbered notes are much harder to find! Especially in the 1928 $100.00 series.

The note starts out with 00. The serial number on this note is E 00167733 A. This note was among the first notes printed which is identified by the E – A block. The letter “E” in the serial number stands for the 5th Federal Reserve Bank, which is located Richmond.

This note is from the number Richmond series which is designated by the “5” on the left side of the note (see pics). In the early years of production (1928), the notes used a numerical system. The use of numbers was changed to lettering for the 1934 Series. So, this note is the early version of this series and that is why it is more collectable.

The number “5” represents the 5th letter in the alphabet, which is E, which is the letter for the BEP in Richmond. So, this note is the early version of this series and that is why it is more collectable.

This note is very hard to find in this condition.

The color just pops off the note. The margins are centered very well, and the ink just pops off the note.  The colors are bright and bold. The vibrant colors and well-preserved paper add to its visual eye appeal. The note has fantastic eye appeal.   The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides.  All of the corners and edges of the note are crisp and clean.  There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears. 

The note will be encased in a long-term preservation holder. The holder is made to enhance the presentation of the encapsulated note and protects against tampering. The note pictured is the exact note you will receive.
