Offered today is a Lincoln Penny ERROR COIN. This is what you call an OFF CENTER STRIKE.

The coin is Graded in MINT STATE 65. This is a very high grade for any error.

The coin was not completely centered during the striking process. Therefore only part of the coin was struck. The coin is minted after 1982. We know this because the coin is made of zinc.

The coin does not show a date as the planchet rotated during the strike.

You can see that due to the off center strike that the planchet is actually elongated or wider than a normal penny.
